These are some of the most frequently asked questions by prospective piano students and their parents. If you have any other questions , please feel free to contact me.
What Lesson Length Do I Need?
- 30 minute solo lessons are best suited for young beginners.
- 45 or 60 minute solo lessons are suitable for adult beginners and intermediate level children.
- 60 minute or longer solo lessons are necessary for advanced students regardless of age.
Where Are Piano Lessons Held?
Lessons are held in my home studio in Iruma-shi, or at your home for on-line lessons.
Do I Need A Piano at Home?
You definitely need some kind of a practice instrument. Acoustic pianos are always best, but a weighted keyboard can suffice for the beginning stages.
How Much Practice Is Necessary?
This depends on the level and age of the student, and how fast they want to progress. The most important thing is that practice happens every day and that weekly assignments are completed. That said this is how long it will normally take to practice what I assign:·
- Young students and beginners: 10-20 minutes a day
- Elementary students: 20-30 minutes a day or more
- Intermediate students: 30-45 minutes a day or more
- Advanced students: 45-60 minutes or more a day
The numbers above are no more than rough indications. The more you enjoy, the longer you will want to play the piano!
What Books Do I Need and Where Do I Get Them?
You basically don’t need to get any books yourself. I’ll prepare that for you. The materials are not included in the tuition. If you have specific pieces you want to learn, please get the sheet music yourself, and share with me.I use lots of different books and methods to suit different learning styles. For very young beginners, some of my most commonly used series include East to West Along the Keys, My First Piano Adventures, Dozen A Days. I’m constantly researching new materials and expanding my library so I can hopefully find the music that inspires each and every student.Books and materials are not included in the tuition, but you can prepare them yourselves if you wish.
Do You Teach Adults?
Adults of any level are absolutely welcome.
We provide with online lessons as an option for all of our students and are excited to continue our students’ musical journeys in whatever format they choose.
I focus on making the learning immediately rewarding experience. You can have fun playing piano straight away. You’ll be making the music you want to in know time.
ALL GENRES OF MUSIC
While I of course make sure that we cover all the basics and technical elements that you need to play successfully, this does not mean that piano lessons need to be dull. You don’t need to spend weeks playing the same etudes, and your ultimate goal doesn’t need to be playing a full Beethoven sonata. If you love Beethoven that’s great! However, if you would like to play contemporary arrangements, or jazz standards, or accompany your local choir; we can do that! Whatever your individual goals are at the piano, your lessons will be designed around you.
What is the Youngest Age Student You Will Teach?
I teach students as young as three and a half. In case that children have difficulty in sitting in front of the piano, I may ask parents to wait to begin for some months or shorten each lesson.
Do Your Students Get Opportunities to Perform?
Yes. Getting to share music with others is one of the best parts of learning to play an instrument.I hold a student recital every year, which all students are welcome to perform in.Shy students are welcome to just come and watch.Busy students can cheer for participants from anywhere they are.I never push a student to perform if they are reluctant.More stages, such are competitions and concerts are usually provided, but most events have been postponed or cancelled for the time being due to prevent from infection spread Covid-19.
What Type of Music Can I Learn?
I teach any and all genre’s of music that a student wants to learn. Nothing is off the menu!Although some classical music is generally necessary for good progress to be made, you are by no means limited to classical. My students learn pop, jazz, blues, punk, and rock – if the student loves the music that’s all that matters to me.
Can students take rescheduled lessons?
We don’t hold rescheduled lessons in cases that are due students’ business. When the lesson was closed due to a bad weather, disasters, the instructor’s health condition, we will arrange lessons individually.
How Can I Pay My Tuition?
You can pay tuition each month or each semester. Bank transfer payments are the most convenient for most students, but you can also pay by cash if you prefer.
